Glimmerglass State Park near Cooperstown could be considered a “full service” park located on beautiful Otsego Lake. It is open all year with camping available May through October. Located on County Road 31, the park is on the east side of Otsego lake, about four miles south of state Route 20 and eight miles north of Cooperstown.
There is a vehicle entrance and use fee of $7 per day. New York State also offers a season pass good a most parks in the system. Camping fees start at $15 per night with surcharges for weekends and holidays and for out-of-state residents. Camping reservations are made through Reserveamerica.
The park is open all year with beach swimming in the summer. There are picnic areas, nature trails, playgrounds, areas to bike, fishing, hiking, and this historic Hyde Hall. The park has approximately 50 campsites, most with electric, for tents and trailers, open May through October.
May 26 – June 10, weekends and holidays, 11 am - 7 pm. From June 11 to Sept. 3 swimming is open daily, 11 am - 7 pm.
As a year-round park, there are winter activities of cross-country skiing, snowmobiling, ice skating, and ice fishing.
